Anderson Invitational

Over Spring Break on April 22nd and 23rd, the Boys Track & Field team participated in the Anderson Invitational. Going into the 2nd day of competition, Turpin was leading the other 18 teams in 1st place over both Anderson and Kings. The weather on Friday was rainy and cold and the field events were cancelled. This meant no points for both discus and long jump could be earned. As a result, Turpin finished in 2nd place behind Kings. The Turpin athletes showed grit and forced Kings to work incredibly hard for their win. Notable performances over the 2 day meet included Gabe Hickman who won the shot put with a new school record throw of 56'5.75. Congratulations, Gabe! Chris Workman took 2nd place with a throw of 51'0.75. Paul Signorelli had an excellent meet placing 1st in the pole vault and 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles. Peter Morton and Calvin Seeman finished 1st and 2nd in the 3200 meter run. John Morton, Derek Carter and Jack Bentley took places 1 through 3 in the 1600 meter run. Derek Carter and John Morton also placed 2nd and 3rd in the 800 meter run. Calvin Seeman enjoyed finishing 2nd in the grueling 3000 meter Steeple Chase - as if he wasn't already wet from the rainy weather!
