Tues Oct 4th the Spartans hosted the Wolves from WC.  The energy level was low and the rallies were short.  But the Spartans showed their resolve, winning the tough points and making fewer errors.  Turpin won 25-16 and 25-20.

Nothing better than a cup of coffee and Freshman volleyball on a cool crisp Sat morning; the Spartans caught the am bus to play the Loveland Tigers Sat Oct 8th. They played sharp and focused coming away with the first set 25-20. But they lost the 2nd and 3rd sets 17-25 and 14-25. It was a competitive and well-played match despite the loss. More concerning was the injury to our setter-Broken Hand!! I think she played a set plus in pain!!
Injuries are part of the season and the Spartans had to go with a different lineup. Oct 11  was the final match at Klinger Court.  The Warriors from Lebanon paid us a visit. The Spartans struggled in the 1st, losing 18-25. But they came out sharper in the 2nd set and won a tight one 25-22.  Both teams played well in the 3rd, the lead changed frequently. In a nailbiter, the Spartans won  29-27!  (ECC 13-4)
The last ECC matchup of the season was at Kings. There was some good dancing during the timeouts by the Spartans. And they waltzed to victory  25-14, 25-14. ECC record was 14-4!

Another Saturday morning(Oct  15th), another road trip up North. This time they played the Mason Comets. Our team was a little groggy in the first set falling 16-25. But they showed their determination by coming back in the 2nd set. They won the 2nd 26-24. The final set had plenty of thrills- with fantastic rallies. They had a match point (24-23)but failed to convert. They would fall 24-26. It was a fantastic season for the Spartan Freshman.

Let's cheer on our high-powered Varsity squad as they start the Playoffs this week!
