The Turpin Women’s Varsity Golf team, brought out their best shots for an 18-hole match on Thursday, and earned a respectable third place out of six ECC teams. Led by coach JK Buck, returning for his 8th season, plus new team coach Nate Williams, Turpin defeated perennial powerhouse Loveland, as well as Anderson and Walnut Hills. Turpin’s Varsity score of 362 was 16 strokes better than last year, but well shy of Kings High School’s stunning first place score of 307.

Turpin’s “Shooting Star” today was Turpin Senior Elizabeth Chamberlin’s masterpiece score of 81 on this long, challenging course. Alyssa Haverstraw, Margot Swartz, and Skylar Huster rounded out the Top Four scoring for Turpin Varsity, followed closely by Abby Montague and Meghan Cissell.

Turpin Sophomore, Bridget Trout, led Turpin’s JV effort with an outstanding 47, followed by Ruby Whiteford, Cece Chavez, and Freshman Sophia Calvert. JV took 2nd place with a sharp 9-hole match tally of 209 to beat all but one of the contending teams.

Twelve players have returned from last year’s strong 19-6 season (5-1 for 2nd place in the ECC), joined by seven new players this year. Congrats to the Turpin Women’s Golf Team for the strong showing.
