Girls Golf Team Lifts “Queen of the Hill” Trophy – Once Again!

Posted on: October 3, 2019
Another dominating performance by the Lady Spartans makes for a 3-year Queen of the Hill winning streak for Turpin. Varsity finished off a fabulous season in style Thursday as they bested local rivals McNicholas and Anderson to retain the highly coveted trophy. Local Vineyard Golf Course graciously hosted the annual “Queen of the Hill” golf match. The perfectly manicured fairways, well-placed ponds, numerous sand traps and complex greens make this course a sporting challenge for every player. All participants earned an event medal reflecting their team's results. The event provided even more memorable experiences for the players as many are already friends.
The Lady Spartans took the Gold medal with their 4-player score of 188. The Anderson Redskins took Silver with 195, and the McNicholas Rockets’ 206 strokes brought home the Bronze. Turpin’s top scorer, Elizabeth Chamberlin, earned the overall Event Medalist with a sharp 41 on a tough course. Abby Montague, Bridget Trout and Margot Swartz rounded out the Top 4 scoring with 46, 50 and 51 respectively.  Skylar Huster and Alyssa Haverstraw followed closely in scoring while contending with Varsity today. Beloved Seniors, Elizabeth Chamberlin and Skylar Huster both completed their final match of the regular season. They will truly be missed by the Lady Spartans next year.
Congratulations go to Turpin Varsity head coach, J.K. Buck, assistant coach, Nate Williams, and all the players for a phenomenal Women’s Golf season. Turpin logged an 18-6 record in all matches, and they finished third in the ECC Conference.
