Girls Golf Heads into Tournament Week

The Turpin Girls Golf Team began the second half of their season with a 4th place finish at the Kettering Alter 18-Hole Invitational on Sept. 13 at the NCR Golf Club. Anna Sievers and Norah Zellen led the way with a 90 and 93, respectively, on a challenging course that hosted the LPGA Senior Open in late August.

The girls were right back at it the next afternoon, upending Loveland 184 to 198 at the Terrace Park Country Club.  Norah was match medalist with a 42, with Lexi Elza just one stroke back, shooting her career best 43!

Rounding out their “36 holes of golf in less than 60 hours”, the girls traveled to Lebanon on Sept. 15, for a 2nd place showdown with Lebanon at the Harmon Golf Club.  Unfortunately, they were edged out 177-183, but enjoyed the match “twinning” with the Warriors.  The Spartans were paced by Anna shooting a 42 and Norah’s 44.

The girls currently sit in 3rd Place in the ECC at 4-2.  They finish up league play next week with matches against West Clermont (Friendly Meadows Golf Club) and Kings (Terrace Park Country Club), before the postseason ECC Tournament on Sept. 22nd at Waldon Ponds.
