The Turpin Spartans Girls Golf Team capped off their 2022 season with conference victories over West Clermont and Kings to finish the regular season at 6-2.
They followed this by placing runner up at the Postseason ECC Tournament, shaving 23 strokes off their Preseason team score, and securing a 3rd place final ranking in the conference. With this, the Spartan legacy continues, as Turpin is the only ECC school to finish in a top 3 slot each of the last 7 years!
Though the girls handed off the Queen of the Hill Trophy to Anderson in their final match (but did defeat McNick), they didn’t let that phase them. They placed 6th in the sectional Tournament, narrowly missing a return to districts. Anna Sievers, who placed 8th overall in the sectional will advance as an individual.
Each member of the team contributed to the success this season! All six Varsity golfers, Lexi Elza, Anna Sievers, Ella Waits, Maureen Carpenter, Eryn Dornelle and Norah Zellen were team medalist or runner-up at a match or tournament. Audrey Dehan and Georgia Painseis were key fill-ins when Varsity openings arose, and newcomers Natalia Johansen and Eden Bee were instrumental at the JV level.
The girls wish their Senior, Lexi, the best, and look forward to continuing the progress and Spartan golf legacy next August!
