The Spartans Girls Soccer team opened their season 2-0 for the first time since 2017 with a 2-0 victory over Fairfield on Saturday, August 20th at Fairfield HS.  Turpin (2-0-0 overall, 0-0-0 ECC) received goals from Brooke Wilson and Sydney Riley with Grace Henning and Kate Hooper assisting the scorers.  In the 30th minute, Henning fired a free kick from just outside the 20 yard box.  Fairfield’s keeper deflected the initial shot, but Wilson was on point jamming the rebound home for the 1-0 lead.  Later in the first half it was Hooper finding Riley open in the attacking third.  Riley’s nifty run and shot found net for the 2-0 lead.  The stout Spartan defense took over from there and senior keeper Mallory Harsh recorded her first clean sheet of the season.

Turpin opens conference play on Tuesday, August 23rd at Walnut Hills.
