JV Spartans Fall in Season Opener

The Spartans traveled to Lebanon to take on the Warriors to open the 2019-20 season.  They trailed most of the game and ultimately lost 52-40.

Jack Selfridge got the scoring going early but midway through the 1st quarter trailed 4-2.  Back to back 3 point field goals by Max Gundrum and Selfridge gave Turpin their first lead 8-7.  The scoring was back and forth through the 2nd quarter but a 3 pointer at the buzzer for Lebanon gave them a 26-18 halftime lead.

Lebanon outscored the Spartans 5-0 to open the 2nd half and Turpin trailed 31-18.  A steal and a 3 point play by Will Schulok followed by a Brady Hardewig 3 point field goal cut the Lebanon lead to 34-27 at the end of the 3rd quarter.

After 4 free throws, two by Hardewig and two by Gundrum the Spartans trailed 43-38 with 2:18 left in the game. However there was no comeback on this night as Turpin ultimately fell 52-40.

Brady Hardewig led the Spartans in scoring with 12 points.  Max Gundrum was in double figures with 10 points and Will Schulok chipped in 7 points.
