Making Moves at Moeller

The boys and girls cross country teams started off their season with Friday nights meet at the Moeller Invitational in Mason. The weather was nice and is one of few evening races. The girls JV raced first at 6:05. The team placed 9th out of 19 teams competing. Natalie Stotz and Halcy Russell both fought at the finish line for the first Turpin spot. Natalie edged in .4 seconds ahead. Abigail Adams and Abbie Rhodus also finished more than a minute faster than their Newtown 5k time. The boys JV race followed shortly after. Turpin came in 7th out of the 18 teams competing. Cole Weaver finished first for Turpin with Connor Flora following close behind. Drew Geis also finished more than 2 1/2 minutes faster than his Newtown 5k time. Girls varsity ran 2 hours later as it was getting dark. The team came in 11th out of 18 teams. Jane Maxwell came in first for Turpin and 14th overall. Athlete of the week, Anna Keller also ran varsity for the first time and got a new PR. The boys varsity raced next. The team came in third, beating both Loveland and Walnut Hills. Peter Morton came in 13th place overall with John Morton and Jack Bentley following close behind for a 15th and 16th place finish. Cooper Davidson broke 19 minutes with his first varsity race, making him athlete of the week. Overall, this was a good first meet for the spartans!
