Turpin vs Anderson – Sat, April 2nd 

The Turpin Spartans secure their first victory of the regular season with a big 21-7 win over rival Anderson Raptors in the first match up for the Queen of the Hill. Turpin jumped out early scoring 8 runs in the top of the 1st inning and adding 5 more in the top of the 2nd

Anderson scored 6 runs through the first 2 innings, but Turpin added 4 runs in both the 3rd and 4th innings to pull away for good. Turpin racked up 15 hits on the day. Goetz, Moss, and E Hartley each racked up multiple hits. Turpin was led by Goetz, who went 4 for 5 at the plate and drove in 5 RBIs. Ramsey finished second on the team with 4 RBIs. 

Goetz was also the winning pitcher for Turpin, surrendering 7 runs on 3 hits over 5 innings while striking out 4. L Conley led the way for Anderson going 2 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. 


Turpin vs Archbishop McNicholas – Sat, April 2nd 

The Turpin Spartans secured the 2022 Queen of the Hill title with their 13-3 victory over McNick. Laudeman led Turpin in hits going 4 for 5 at the plate and Goetz helped to power the offense early with a 3 run home run in the first inning. 

The game was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the 3rd inning, when Whitley singled with bases loaded to drive in 2 runs. Moss and Laudeman followed with singles of their own to drive in 1 additional run each resulting in a 4 run inning and Spartans 7-3 lead going into the 4th. Turpin added 6 additional runs in the remaining innings to secure the 10 run victory. The Spartans finished the game with 6 players delivering a multi-hit game for a team total of 16 hits. 

Allison earned the victory in the circle for Turpin surrendering only 3 runs on 6 hits over 6 innings while striking out 8 batters. Jones and Schmidt each had 2 hits for McNick.
