Spartan’s Take 4th at opening Meet

Having to rise early (5:45am!) on Saturday December 14th, the team traveled to Columbus to compete against 16 teams from around the Columbus region.  Since this meet is against teams that are outside our District it is always a great opportunity for the girls to test out the routines and skills they have been working on and make adjustments prior to the start of our in-district season.  The Spartan’s showed that they are more than ready to compete!

The Spart10s scored a 129.075 giving them a 4th place finish out of 16 teams, missing out of  3rd by only .575 points. On floor, senior Amber Russell and freshman Maycee Herzog scored 8.925 tie-ing for a 7th place finish.  On vault, freshman Maycee scored an 8.4 for a 6th place finish and freshman Alice Utz scored an 8.1 earning an 8th place finish.

Next up, Oak Hills Invite on January 5th at 10:30am.

Spartan’s Soar to a 3rd place finish at Oak Hills Meet

After a 3 week break, the Spar10’s were back in action at the Oak Hills Invite held on Sunday January 5th.  The ladies showed that despite the holiday break, they were more than ready to take on the area competition.

The team improved their score by 2.525 over the Hillard meet in December, earning a 131.6 and a 3rd place finish.  They were only .025 away from second!

The ladies started the meet on floor.  This event was dominated by Amber Russell and Maycee Herzog who earned a 9.05 and 9.075 respectively securing a 3rd and 2nd place spot.

Next up was vault, and freshman Maycee Herzog led the team.  She scored an 8.175 and an 8th place finish.

Moving on to bars, the Spartan’s were led by Senior Serra Tuzun who scored an 8.1 earning a 7th place finish.

Finishing out the meet on beam (which is never easy) the ladies excelled.  Freshman Anna Grimes competed in her first high school meeting earning an 8.725 on beam and a 4th place finish and Maycee Herzog had an 8.85 for an impressive 1st place finish.  In total, it was a no-fall beam event!

Maycee Herzog placed 3rd in the all-around with a score of 34.0.

The lady Spar10’s are looking forward to their next meet, the Indian Cup at Cincinnati Country Day on Saturday January 11st at 12noon.
