The Spartan gymnasts competed at the Anderson High School “Win the Day” Meet held on Saturday February 1st.  Teams from all over the state of Ohio were represented at the day long meet at Anderson High School. Although the gymnasts placed 4th out of 10 teams the top 3 finishers were all 2019 state qualifying teams including Sheridan who placed 2nd at last year State Meet.  Needless to say, the Spartan’s held their own and looked just as impressive as ever.

The Spar10’s started off on the beam. Freshman Maycee Herzog led the way with an 8.9 and an 8th place finish.  She was followed by Freshman Anna Grimes who scored an 8.8 which earned her a 10th place finish. Also adding to the overall team score were Seniors Amber Russell and Serra Tuzun, who scored a season high of 8.5. In total, the Spar10’s had a season high event score on Beam.

On Floor, Senior Amber Russell continued to demonstrate her dominance on the event.  She scored a 9.25 tieing her career high score and earning a 3rd place finish. She was joined by Maycee Herzog who scored a 9.0 to finish 10th.  Olivia Meagher and Kassidy Nafziger also contributed to the overall team’s floor score.

On Vault, the Spar10’s also had a season high event score.  Let by Amber Russell who placed 10th, she was joined by Natalie Combs and Maycee Herzog who also contributed to the team score.  Alice Utz and Anna Grimes had a tie score so one of their scores also contributed to the overall score.

The Team and Coaches would like to thank the students and staff members for coming out to support them at this event as well as their main fans, the parents!
