Spartan Swimmers Enjoy Senior Night

NEW Pool Record set at Senior Night, Jan. 30th by 0.67 seconds! Men’s 200 Medley Relay: Freshman Will Meyers, Senior Cole Kueper, Junior Tim Blankenship, and Senior Ethan Kueper will have their names in print on the record board, with a time of 1:37.90. Way to start the meet off right.  Final scores of the night, beating the Anderson Redskins, yet again...The Spartan Women doubled the score of Redskins-124-62 and our Spartan Men, more than tripled Anderson’s points- 142-43. GO SPARTANS!   

More Highlights for the Turpin vs. Anderson Swimming and Diving Meet: (and speaking of “highlights”- the platinum blonde hair of the boys from both teams was quite stunning)

  • Both 200 Medley Relays take 1st/2nd- leaving Anderson in their wakes.

  • Spartans took 1st/2nd/3rd in 6 swimming events and Both diving events.

    • 200 Free:1-Tim Blankenship (1:53.53), 2-Rio Platt, 3-Aidan Combs.

    • 200 IM: 1-Alexandra Johnson (2:21.00), 2-Caroline Rupp, 3-Olivia Studenka.

    • 100 Fly: 1-Madeline Hart (59.02), 2-Ava Sutphin, 3-Morgan Slaney

    • 100 Free: 1-Peter Schmeltzer (51.35), 2-Clay Dehlinger, 3-Dean Wickman (PR!)

    • 100 Back: Henry Carnevale (1:02.48), 2-Mitch Giegel, 3-Nathan Hart.

    • 100 Breast: 1-Aidan Combs (1:11.30), Will Meyers, Clay Dehlinger

    • 1 M Dive: 1-Ali Asbury (258), 2-Natalie Mays, 3-Brooke Heis

    • 1 M Dive: 1-Mac Carroll (219), 2-Logan Bliss, 3- Kyle Allen

  • Spartans Place First in 19 of the 24 events. (see above for 8 of the individuals).

    • Lucia Johnson- 200 Free (2:07.43)

    • Cole Kueper- 50 Free (23.00)

    • Caroline Rupp- 100 Free (58.14)

    • Tim Blankenship- 500 Free (5:15.50)

    • Ava Watts- 100 Back (1:03.16)

    • Sami Lingo- 100 Breast (1:17.02)

  • Senior Jack Nikolai got his career best in the 50 Free- 27.86.

  • Kueper twins take 1-2 in the 50 Free- separated by only 0.68 seconds

  • Scottie Nimmo dropped 16 second in his 500 Free- going 5:44.15. Another PR!

  • Girls 400 Free Relay touched out Anderson by just 0.32 seconds. Lucia Johnson, Eva Watts, Sami Lingo, and Alexandra Johnson anchoring for the strong finish! Well Done. 

  • Boys 400 Free Relay also took 1st and 2nd, securing their easy victory over the Redskins.

  • And in the spirit of “We are Forest Hills”, recognition should also go to Grace Hastings, an Anderson Senior, who took down 2 of Turpin’s Pool Records tonight.  She swam the 500 Free in a time of 4:58.59, winning by almost a minute. And leading off the 400 Free Relay, she swam her 100 Free in 52.31. Well done Grace.

 
The Spartans next competition is Sectionals, Jan. 7/8 and Princeton HS.
