Spartans are Sectional Champions!- with Men and Women’s combined scores, the Turpin Swimmers and Divers worked together to dominate over their field of Division I Schools on Jan. 7th and 8th.  On Sunday, Jan. 9th, Fred Cooper Invite at St. Xavier was a culminating meet for non-District swimmers and times were dropping like crazy! Turpin’s depth of talents is tribute to the dedicated coaching staff and the hard work of the team.  Turpin will have 22 swimmers and 4 divers competing at the Districts Meet at Miami University this week. That is a great representative of our team. Good Luck!

Highlights from Sectionals and Fred Cooper meets:

  • Henry Carnevale dropped 15 seconds in his 500 Free going a LTB of 5:00.01. And qualified for the District Meet.  Yahoo!

  • The Men’s 200 Free Relay tied for 1st place vs. Walnut Hills in the time of 1:32.13. Cole Kueper, Mitch Geigel, Jack Bachman, Nathan Hart each played their part in the effort.

  • Senior Jack Bachman dropped 1 sec. In the 50 Free- a huge feat for such a short race. Going 23.89.

  • Freshman Will Meyers and Rio Platt batted to the finish in their 200 IM, achieving PR’s.

  • Freshman Connor Black dropped 4 second in his 100 Back and 10 seconds in his 100 Free. Way to bring both times into the single digits!

  • Molly Butkovich dropped 3 seconds in her 100 Fly- finishing 2nd at FC in the time of 1:01! You make it look so easy...

  •  The 500 Free  Team of Hanah Aman, Kyle Howard, and Natalie Stotz, together dropped 48 seconds off their times.  Way to go the distance ladies!

  • Jenna Daoud dropped 6 seconds, Sami Colglazier dropped almost 3 sec, and Grace Lyons dropped almost 3 seconds.- all achieving PR’s in the 100 Breaststroke.

As this was the end of the swim/dive season for most athletes, a HUGE congratulations goes to ALL who achieved personal best times- there were just too many to keep track of.  Team spirit was amazing as always- GO SPARTANS!
