The Freshmen Spartans arrived at Harrison Saturday with a singular focus.  Beat Harrison and get back on the winning side of .500.

Turpin did just that, advancing to 4-3 with a 38-0 shut-out over an outmatched Wildcat team.  The game started with a strong defensive stand by Turpin forcing a quick three and out by Harrison.  On Turpin’s first possession Clark Helgason passed to Reed Rosebraugh then handed off to Reed for a Turpin first down.  Turpin continued to move the ball culminating in a Charlie Feltman touchdown to take the Spartans ahead 6-0.  Harrison got the ball back but again Turpin’s defensive line stepped up.  Their quarterback was chased down and he heaved a pass which Simon Molloy pulled down for a big INT.

The Turpin offense moved down the field with efficiency and this time Clark found Connor Frantz in the endzone for a second TD moving the Spartan’s ahead 12-0.  With Harrison expecting a pass, Clark kept it and snuck in for a QB keeper two point conversion making it a 14-0 game.  The second quarter started with Harrison’s drive again stalling and Turpin forcing another punt.  With Turpin back on offense, Helgason fired the cannon and connected with Connor Frantz at the Harrison five yard line.  Turpin went to the air again with Helgason putting up a jump ball which Cody Hurst hauled in for Turpin’s third touchdown.  Turpin 20-0.  Helgason and Hurst found their rhythm and connected for the extra two points as well; Turpin 22, Harrison 0.  After another Harrison three and out, Clark aired it out again.  This time George Machenheimer got in on the action and shucked, jived, and broke numerous ankles before finally getting stopped at the Harrison one yard line.  Helgason found Hurst in the same spot for an easy TD catch, followed by a two point run by Rosebraugh taking the Spartans up 30-0 to end the half.  With a running clock in the second half, Turpin kept the pressure on.  On the Spartans first possession, Reed Rosebraugh notched another big run taking Turpin into the red zone.  Then Clark went with the QB keeper and pushed his way to the one yard line setting up a TD catch by Joey Mclelland.  Joey’s catch, followed-up by Reid’s two point run took Turpin up 38-0.  With the clock running Connor Frantz pulled down a big interception just before the end of the third quarter.  Turpin utilized a variety of players in the fourth quarter and solid tackles were logged by Grant? and Luke Tully to keep Harrison scoreless.  With another big win, the Spartan’s moved to 4-3 for the season.  Congratulations on another team effort and a second straight Turpin shut-out.
