Ladies Tennis Team

The 2021 SPARtennis girls are off to a great start this season.    They have had multiple cancellations due to heat and rain, but are getting the matches made up. This year the team has 29 girls between varsity and JV.    Many of the other schools also have larger than usual numbers of players, so we are all getting in lots more playing time. Numbers are pretty well divided with all the classes being somewhat equal in number and are being led by 7 seniors:  Kayla Castlen, Libby Collier, Lydia Dunkle, Allie Fermann, Alex Lehman, Casey Lupariello and Maddie Phillips.   These seven are getting the theme practices organized as well as other crazy things.

The varsity squad is currently 9-1 and leading in the ECC with 5 wins, and the JV squad is 6-0.  In the state team tournament action, the varsity won their first 2 matches over Ross and Anderson. The Spartans are getting ready for their next round with number 1 ranked Mason.

One of the highlights, and there are many is sophomore Sarah Clark who is currently 10-0, making an impact in her first season of high school tennis.  Another was receiving a gift of a ball machine from a community member, that is providing lots of hitting drill practice.    Most important is the resurfacing of our tennis courts, and the cicadas are gone.   We still have 4 more weeks till sectionals.   Come out and check out this team.   Free admission to first 100 fans!
