Swimmers and Divers Rally Together At ECC!

Swimmers and Divers Rally Together At ECC!- Mac Carrol and Ali Asbury- both stood at the top of the podim, Thursday, Jan. 23 taking First Place in Diving (something they both did as freshman too!)  Saturday, Jan. 25, the Swimmers continued that competitive streak- Women taking FIRST for the 3rd consecutive year, and the Men taking a close 2nd place behind Kings. Coach Rene Contino was again voted ECC Coach of the Year.    

ECC Swimming Highlights:

  • 200 Medley Relays Both took podium spots: Alexandra Johnson, Olivia Geiger, Lucia Johnson, and Madeline Hart took the Silver for the Women.  Will Meyers, Cole Kueper, Tim Blankenship, and Ethan Kueper took Bronze for the Men. 

  • Girls dominated the 200 Freestyle taking 4 of the 5 top finishes: 

1st- Madeline Hart, 3rd-Ava Sutphin, 4th-Morgan Slaney, 5th-Kyle Howard. 

  • Sami Lingo takes the Silver in the 200 Individual Medley! 

  • Freshman Clay Dehlinger, swims the 200 IM for the first time ever! -in a fast 2:29! 

  • Lucia Johnson gets under that minute mark in the 100 Fly- 59.97 to take 2nd!

  • Jack Wagner drops over 2 seconds in his 100 Fly- 1:02.98 

  • Cole Kueper stands on the podium with a Silver in the 100 Free- 49.95.

  • 500 Free is ALL Turpin Women on the podium! 1st-Ava Sutphin, 2nd-Sami Lingo, and 3rd-Morgan Slaney. All finishing within 13 seconds of each other. 

  • 500 Free for the Men, just missing the podium, swam a strong 4-5-6 finish. Peter Schmelzer, Ethan Keuper, and Henry Carnevale (PR for Henry!)

  • Women’s 200 Free Relay took 1-3 for podium finishes- 

Gold Medals went to Madeline Hart, Eva Watts, Ava Sutphin, Caroline Rupp. Bronze- Olivia Studenka, Meg Cosgrove, Sami Lingo and Taylor Black (strong anchor to secure that 3rd place finish with a PR of 26.13).

  • Dean Wickman swam his PR in the 100 Back, dropping 5 seconds! 1:07 finish!!

  • Olivia Geiger dropped over 3 seconds in her 100 Breast- 1:09.88- way to get into the single digits! 

  • Finishing the day with a Silver, was the Girls 400 Free Relay of Eva Suphin, Ava Watts, Sami Lingo, and Alex Johnson. Way to finish strong!

Come support your Spartan SENIORS at they take on Anderson at their last home meet on Thursday, Jan. 30th @ 6:30. Anderson High School will also be honoring their Seniors during the meet.
