The Spartans traveled to Lebanon for their first league and road game of the season
and came away with a 56-45 win to go 1-1 (1-0 ECC). Sophomore Brady Hardewig led
all scorers with 15 points. While seniors Ethan Zinn and Matt Johnson were also in
double figures with 10 points each to help secure the victory.

Senior Dom Cantrella scored first attacking the rim for a 2-0 early lead. Lebanon
followed with a 5-0 run to take the lead 5-2. Junior Deven Marathe came off the bench
and quickly made an impact. Off nice assists from Hardewig and Zinn, Deven drilled
back to back 3 point baskets to take a 12-11 lead. However, Turpin found themselves
down 14-12 at the end of 1 thanks to a buzzer beating 3 by the Warriors.

Turpin opened up the 2nd quarter on a 7-0 run with baskets from Theisen Lee and Zinn
followed by a 3 point basket by Hardewig. Lebanon was forced to call a timeout after
back to back 3 point baskets from Matt Johnson and Matt Sheffer which resulted in a
26-18 lead. Turpin outscored Lebanon 21-6 in the 2nd quarter to claim a 33-20 halftime
lead.

Hardewig scored the Spartans first 5 pts of the 3rd quarter with 2 free throws and a 3
point basket to build the lead to 38-22. Zinn then found Matt Johnson on a nice back
cut to keep the lead at 16. However Lebanon was not finished yet as the Warriors went
on a 6-0 run to cut the Turpin lead to 40-30. Johnson was able to find Hardewig on a
skip pass and the sophomore guard hit another 3 to end the Warriors run. The 3rd
quarter ended as the 1st quarter did with a Lebanon 3 point basket at the buzzer and
the Spartans lead was cut to 45-35.

The 4th quarter began with some sloppy play by both teams that included turnovers and
missed opportunities. A little less than 3 minutes into the final quarter Cantrella found
Hardewig in the corner for a 3 point basket and a 48-37 lead. Theisen Lee and Ethan
Zinn scored the Spartans last two field goals as Turpin won its first game of the season
56-45. Turpin is back on the road Friday at Kings hoping to make it two in a row!
