Turpin’s Varsity Boys Soccer hosted the Mariemont Warriors on Saturday, September 11. Despite a strong performance in possession and a first-half lead, the Spartans ultimately suffered a 2-1 defeat to the defending state Division III champion Warriors.

The Spartans started quickly, and took an early lead on a well-placed shot rifled from the left foot of senior midfielder Carter Young, his first of the season.  Despite some additional chances, the Spartans did not add to the 1-0 lead, and conceded a header to the visitors midway through the second half to make the halftime score 1-1.

The Spartans continued their effort in a hard-fought second half, with each side exchanging chances. Just when it appeared the game may end in a draw, Mariemont’s Martin Eisenhauer stormed down the pitch and fired home the game-winner with just under two minutes left in the game.
